Charity of the Month: JDRF

Our Charity of the Month for September was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Clocktower Realty Group made a donation as well as some additional fundraising and we're hoping to do even more! The JDRF One Walk Fundraiser Charity event is THIS Sunday, October 2nd in Byrd Park!  Please join us in walking and raising money for the JDRF, a foundation that has made leaps in progress over the past few years and has one of the highest percentages of funding that goes to actual research. Registration starts at 12:00pm and the walk begins at 2:00pm. Read more about the cause from their own words:

JDRF One Walk has a single goal: creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). We hope you'll join us this year as we walk and raise money for life-changing research for the millions affected by this devastating disease.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. If you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump and carefully monitor your eating and activity every single day.

There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D. And—currently—there is no cure. But there is something you can do to help.

When you join one of the hundreds of JDRF One Walks across the country, the money you raise will support JDRF—the leading global organization funding T1D research. And, you'll have a great time doing it! That's because you'll walk with a committed community that is passionate about doing whatever it takes to help JDRF turn Type One into Type None.

We can't do it without you. Please register today.

Come out this Sunday, but if you can't make it, please make your donations using this Trey's Avengers Link!

Charity of the Month: FeedMore Central Virginia Food Bank

My team and I really enjoyed volunteering with FeedMore Central Virginia Foodbank, our Charity of the Month for June.  In addition, a portion of each commission that we get during that month goes towards our COTM - every month - and we couldn't think of a better cause than helping friends, neighbors and families in the fight against hunger.  We don't just want to sell homes, we want to better our community through service!

The goal of PAL is to foster positive relationships between officers and youth.  A portion of every one of my sales for the month of January was donated to this great program helping the youth of Richmond!

Charity of the Month - Henrico PAL

My Charity of the Month for January will be the Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL)!  This is a non-profit organization run by volunteers to provide educational, athletic and social programs to foster positive relationships between officers and youth.  They offer summer camps, mentorship, and even have basketball, dance and chess teams!  This is a cause that’s close to me because my dad was the Sheriff of Mathews County for many years.  This is a great organization that provides a great service to the community.  Started in 2007, it is still young and growing and we will be happy to donate $100 from each sale that closes in the month of January!

REACHCycles Bike Event!

Back in September, following the bike theme of the month due to the UCI World Championship, I donated to a local organization that builds bikes for children with disabilities called REACHCycles. This past week was the unveiling of 10 bikes REACHCycles was able to build because of my, and other's, donations!  It was amazing to see the excitement on the kid's faces when they were able to ride their bike for the first time.  There were snacks along with a table where the kids could decorate license plates for their new bikes and make their own Christmas ornaments!  It was an awesome day!

September Charity: ReachCYCLES

In honor of the UCI Bike Race that came to Richmond this past September, I decided to make my Charity of the Month ReachCYCLES.  An organization started by James Howard (Pictured) to help children and veterans with disabilities find confidence and independence with specially designed bicycles for their needs.  It's a wonderful and growing organization!  For every Charity of the Month, I donate $100 from every closing and I'm proud to say I've had 7 closings this past September!  I'm looking forward to working with and donating to their cause in the future.  There's nothing like a child getting a new bike for the Holidays!

Charity of the Month

With the UCI Road World Championships being hosted by Richmond, Virginia this year, I thought it fitting to name REACHcycles as my September Charity of the Month.  A truly historic event not just for Richmonders, but our nation.  The UCI bike race is returning to the U.S. for the first time since 1986!  Cyclists are coming from around the world to achieve their goals and reach their full potential and REACHcycles strives to give children with disabilities that same encouragement.  Their adapted cycles provides independence and mobility for those that don’t take it for granted.

Started by James Howard, a disabled veteran, REACHcycles is a non-profit started in 2014.  He was inspired by a therapeutic cycle he received himself for a bike ride in Texas sponsored for disabled veterans.  His organization provides recreational therapy for children and veterans with disabilities alike and has been inspired by many other chapters throughout the country providing similar adapted cycles.

Charity of the Month: Comfort Zone Camp

Now that my closings this month are complete, I am proud to announce my August Charity of the Month, Comfort Zone Camp.  The Comfort Zone Camp provides children ages 7-17 a safe place to grieve the loss of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver.  It’s a nationwide non-profit organization that offers partnerships with like-minded organizations to bring camp programs and services to their local area.  Comfort Zone Camp is a great organization, and doing good work to make sure children aren’t left to grieve alone through one of the hardest times in their lives.

Charity of the Month: RCI Christel House Open

You know what I was doing last week about this time?  Lounging at hole 17 on the Green Course at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club!  Granted, it was for a good cause: The 13th annual RCI Christel House Open. Not coincidentally, my Charity of the Month.  All proceeds went to Christel House and their mission to help impoverished children break the cycle through education.  There were certainly prizes and swag to be given out.  Hole 17 boasted a $10,000 prize with a hole-in-one, unfortunately, the day saw no takers of the booty.  My team and I were just happy to be a part of a great cause on such a beautiful day at an establishment like the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.  Everyone there was such a great sport and enjoying themselves.  While Richmond is my home, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to show my involvement in other communities like Williamsburg and the Tidewater region of Virginia.  Believe me, my arm was tired after handing out all my cozies!  While Monday’s like that are few and far between, it was a great opportunity for me and an amazing cause to support!

Rhonda donates $100 for every sale that she makes to a different charity every month, she donated over $500.00 to Christel House this month.
