Shopping for my Gifts of Hope family, a program supported by Good Samaritan Ministries. This year, the program was able to sponsor 23 families whose kids will be receiving the gifts this evening! I'm so proud of my team and happy to make a family's Christmas a little brighter!

REACHCycles Bike Event!
Back in September, following the bike theme of the month due to the UCI World Championship, I donated to a local organization that builds bikes for children with disabilities called REACHCycles. This past week was the unveiling of 10 bikes REACHCycles was able to build because of my, and other's, donations! It was amazing to see the excitement on the kid's faces when they were able to ride their bike for the first time. There were snacks along with a table where the kids could decorate license plates for their new bikes and make their own Christmas ornaments! It was an awesome day!

Helping Virginia Veterans Find Better Housing
It's a handful of people that get to be part of the Virginia Leadership Academy. I'm honored and proud to say that I am one of them. Our mission this year has been connecting Virginia Veterans with housing services that meet their needs. It's the things like this that really uplifts my spirit and makes me happy to be a part of the Richmond Association of REALTORS #HappyHoliday #Veterans #Housing

Facts About First Time HomeBuyers
These are some very entertaining and revealing trends the Real Estate Market has seen from first-time homebuyers. Forwarded to us from our friend Thomas, it is interesting to find that an estimated 74% of renters "want to buy a home but are afraid they won't qualify so do not even try!" That is an astounding statistic! As a realtor, it's my job to help people invest in their future and even possibly the biggest savings account they'll ever open - their home! I know people who look and look at resources like Zillow and Trulia with only dreams of buying, but believe me when I say that it may not be so far-fetched of a goal. There are so many programs, incentives, and grants available to first-time homebuyers, it's just a matter of knowing and taking advantage of these opportunities. Even without the best credit or a smaller downpayment it's possible to buy a great home and invest in yourself rather than wasting vast amounts of money on rent. Don't let fear or doubt stop you from reaching your goal of homeownership. It is truly what brings me pleasure as a Realtor, finding my clients the best possible home for them!

September Charity: ReachCYCLES
In honor of the UCI Bike Race that came to Richmond this past September, I decided to make my Charity of the Month ReachCYCLES. An organization started by James Howard (Pictured) to help children and veterans with disabilities find confidence and independence with specially designed bicycles for their needs. It's a wonderful and growing organization! For every Charity of the Month, I donate $100 from every closing and I'm proud to say I've had 7 closings this past September! I'm looking forward to working with and donating to their cause in the future. There's nothing like a child getting a new bike for the Holidays!

S.W.A.T. Team Contest Winner!
I love holding contests within my team of Realtors! It's incentive, rewarding and raises the bar for my already stellar team of professionals to be the best they can be. Congrats to Matt Hovey on winning the Social Media award for most likes/posts/reposts and all around social media presence. So many homebuyers start their search online and it's so important to get your name out there! Matt is also a forerunner for Rookie of the Year!

Richmond is Growing!
Properties in up and coming neighborhoods like Manchester and Eastern Henrico have become popular first-time homebuyer destinations for young Richmonders. You’ll find many neighborhoods where the newly grown-up generation of this city, — those who used to be bartenders and waiters, hairdressers and folks-about-town— are now buying. They’re the small business owners of Richmond. The ones who have opened their own small restaurant, featuring the best homemade sausages. Or a top of the line salon for men, because women shouldn’t have to be the only ones who enjoy looking nice.
They’ve opened up these businesses not far from where they live because they want to build up the neighborhoods they’ve already invested in. Knowing that good service is worth the trip, and there’s nothing like seeking out new places in an old city.
